Langebaan Lagoon has many fun down wind runs for kiters to enjoy.
Below you will find our recommendations accompanied by some tips and points to look out for.
Shark Bay to Main Beach
Depart Shark Bay and kite up towards the mountains enclosing the lagoon. Make your way down to the Main Beach. Enjoy an ice cold beer at Pearly’s to celebrate your down winder.
Make this your last run of the day
Do not attempt in weaker winds
Keep an eye out for sand banks in the lagoon, they make good resting spots
Beware of the currents at the yacht club
Kraal Bay to Shark Bay
Walk your kite to the lagoon until you have enough wind to get up on. Enjoy a long, staring down winder to Shark Bay situated basically directly across from you.
Enjoy the warm waters
Beware of gusty winds
Ensure you have your travel arrangements sorted, it is a difficult upwind journey to Kraal Bay
Main Beach to Paradise Beach or Mykonos
Start at Main Beach and kite up past the island. Aim for Mykonos from there on and enjoy the changing swell and difference in wind. If you wish to go to Paradise Beach, kite up past Mykonos and enter from there.

Wear a life jacket
Ensure your transport arrangements are sorted before you do the down winder
Langebaan to Saldanha
Launch from Main Beach and make your way to Saldanha. Enjoy a long down wind run with many obstacles and different winds and swells.
This is not one for the faint hearted, you must be confident you can finish and have somebody
look out for you
Enjoy an ice cold beer at the Saldanha beach club upon your arrival
Wear a life jacket for this trip
